Telangana: TRS chief Chandrashekar Rao meets Manmohan Singh

TRS chief K Chandrashekar Rao Monday met Prime Minister Manmohan Singh demanding that the Centre take immediate steps for formation of a separate Telangana state without further consultations with political parties on the issue.

Rao, who has been camping here for the past few days, met Singh along with a huge delegation consisting members from his party and the Hyderabad-based Telangana Joint Action Committee which is spearheading the movement for a separate state.

During the meeting, sources said, Rao briefed Singh about the situation in Telangana region where a general strike hs crippled life for the past 22 days.

They said Rao also told the Prime Minister that the Centre should immediately take steps for the formation of a separate state.

Rao, the political face of the movement, had yesterday rejected government's decision to hold further consultations on the issue.

He had also said it was time for the Centre to deliver and not use comforting words.
