With Telangana back on the boil, Congress MPs from the region have decided to mount pressure on the Centre and party high command, asking them to stick to the December 9 statement which said steps will be initiated for the formation of a separate state.

The MPs will try to meet prime minister Manmohan Singh, Congress president Sonia Gandhi and other senior party leaders in the Parliament, which commences its Budget session tomorrow, and explain them the "real" situation.

"The situation is very volatile. The Centre and the party high command need to know the real situation in the state. The sacrifice by Yadaiah (the youth who set himself ablaze) has brought to the fore that the movement for a Telangana state never died," Nizamabad MP Madhu Goud Yaskhi said.

He said "the state authorities are not conveying the real situation in Telangana region to the Centre and party high command." "We want to bring the real situation to the notice of senior party leaders. We will be briefing them about the situation. The situation is the same in all villages in Telangana region," he said.

Several senior MPs say that they will tell the high command that the Centre should stick to the December 9 statement in which home minister P Chidambaram said steps would be initiated for the formation of a separate state. The MPs have also opposed formation of the justice BN Srikrishna committee and the Terms of Reference to it in a letter to Sonia Gandhi.
