The six teenagers, arrested on Monday for the attempt to kidnap of a youth near Himalaya Mall in the city, have been sent to one-day remand by the metropolitan court on Tuesday.  During investigation, the police found that it was just a prank played by the gang to harass the youth.

A cop at the Vastrapur police station told DNA that though the boys told the victim Yogesh Nimbark, 18, a call centre employee that they wanted to kidnap him for his kidneys, the boys later revealed that it was just a prank. The boys will be in police remand till Wednesday morning when they will again be produced in court.

The six accused are students of St. Xaviers College and LD Arts College. Two among them work with a private firm. "The fathers of three of the arrested teenagers work with ONGC, while one underage teen arrested is the son of a paramilitary jawan," the police said.
