Trashing Team Anna's allegations that their phones are being tapped, Congress today advised the activists to lodge a police complaint if they have any doubts.

"It is not necessary to answer allegations which are the product of a fertile imagination and involve only tilting at windmills without any factual basis," Congress spokesman Abhishek Singhvi said in Delhi.

In Nagpur, Arvind Kejriwal, who has alleged that phones of Team Anna members are being tapped, asked the government answer whether it considered them as a threat to national security.

"Is Anna Hazare a threat to the nation?" he asked and demanded an answer from the Union Home Secretary.

"The Government permits tapping of phone of a person in the larger national interest if that person is posing threat to the security of the nation. I don't know why our phones are being tapped," Kejriwal told reporters here.

Kejriwal had claimed yesterday that phones of activists connected with the anti-corruption campaign were being tapped.

Another AICC spokesman Rashid Alvi dubbed Kejriwal's claims as "baseless"

"There is no question of phone tapping at all. These are baseless allegations. If they (Team Anna) have any doubt they should lodge an FIR," Alvi said.
