Teacher arrested in Delhi for molesting girl student

A girl studying in class IV was allegedly molested at a school in South-East Delhi by her 60-year-old teacher, who was arrested today, police said.

Hansraj allegedly molested the student on Saturday in a classroom in GB Pant Sarvodaya Bal Vidyalaya in Sriniwaspuri, a senior police official said.

"The girl had not finished her class work on Saturday and Hansraj asked her to stay back and finish it. After other students left the classroom, he allegedly molested her and threatened her not to tell her parents about it," he said.

The incident came to light after the girl informed his father about her ordeal and said she would not go to school as the teacher was misbehaving with her, the official said.

The father then informed police following which a case was registered.

"We arrested Hansraj from the school this morning on charges of molestation, illegal confinement and criminal intimidation," the official said.

The victim's family and neighbours had staged a protest outside the school seeking strict action against the teacher.

"My daughter came back home and told us that she does not want to go to school again. When we asked her what happened, she narrated the incident. Hansraj also threatened her that he will harm her if she tell about it to anyone," the victim's father said.
