Gautam Mukherjee, prominent citizen and speaker, AM Misra, vice president (coke, sinter and iron and industrial relations), Raghunath Pandey, president, Tata workers' union planted saplings here.
Speaking on the occasion, Mukherjee stressed the need for industries to invest in R and D to find newer methods to reduce consumption of all inputs to address the future challenge that climate change will bring about.
Tree plantation drive also took place in a major way in the city under the guidance of tribal culture society, Tata Steel and Jusco. TCS planted more than a 100 saplings in its vicinity and aimed to plant a total of 1500 saplings with the help of primitive tribal group village members, a company release here said.
