Private hospitals and clinics have been advised to isolate people with flu symptoms and treat them in separately and inform about them to local health officials and public health directorate.
With neighbouring Kerala recording 16 AH1N1 deaths in the last one month, Tamil Nadu government has taken preventive measures against spread of the swine flu virus in the state, health minister MRK Panneerselvam said.
Assuring that there was no A H1N1 flu case in the state, Panneerselvam said medical teams have been formed in areas bordering Kerala to screen passengers coming from that state.
''With the onset of the monsoon and changing climatic conditions, people should be careful,'' he said in a statement here today.
Persons suffering from cold, fever and body pain should receive medical treatment from the nearby government hospital and if required can give throat swab and blood samples for testing, he said adding the King Institute at Guindy and nine other private clinics in Tamil Nadu have the facility to conduct tests.

''All districts have adequate stocks of Tamiflu which are also available in medical shops. But they should be consumed only on medical practitioners' directions,'' he said adding the state had witnessed 11 flu-related deaths last year.
A team from the Union health ministry is in Kerala to conduct an epidemiological investigation into the spread of swine flu in the state, where according to sources, the flu has claimed 16 lives in the last one month.
