Take care of human rights while fighting militants: Kuldeep Khoda

Security agencies should take care of human rights while fighting militants in the Valley, Jammu and Kashmir police chief said today.
    
Director general of police Kuldeep Khoda, who chaired a high level security meeting of top officers of civil administration, police and other security agencies, directed officers to adopt a people friendly approach in security management.
    
The meeting of top security officers comes at a time when the police have been involved in a crackdown against protestors to ensure that there is no repeat of last year's summer unrest.
    
More than 100 civilians were killed when protests, triggered by the killing a teenage student in June last year, erupted in the valley in 2010.
    
"DGP laid stress on maintaining strict vigil and caution to thwart the evil designs of anti-national elements," a police spokesman said.
    
A number of issues relating to overall security and maintenance of law and order were discussed at the meeting.
    
"He (Khoda) asked the officers present in the meeting to adopt a public friendly approach while making security and other arrangements so that people do not face any problem. He directed the security agencies to take care of human rights while fighting militants," the spokesman said.
