Some sections of the media have expressed apprehensions about the condition of the Taj Mahal, but the 17th century monument is safe, Culture Minister Selja said Tuesday.

In a written reply in the Lok Sabha, the minister said the conservation work at the monument in Agra was attended to continuously, depending upon the need for repairs and availability of resources.

The monument is regularly monitored by conducting essential studies, she said.

Studies conducted by the Archaeological Survey of India through different agencies such as the Survey of India (Dehradun), Central Building Research Institute (Roorkee) and National Geophysical Research Institute (Hyderabad) concluded that the Taj Mahal, including it's four minarets, were quite stable.
