Miniature desktop calendars have been prepared Dimple Jariwala, a resident of Rampura in Surat. Jariwala has prepared five such calendars, which are totally different from each-other, including size. The size of smallest calendar is 1.3 cm x 1.6 cm, while that of biggest one is 1.6 x 1.6 cm. Small calendar as 16 pages, while biggest one has 12. Apart from date, calendars contain additional information too.
“It took me three weeks to prepare these calendars and work was very challenging. Preparing smallest calendar (1.3x1.6) was most difficult one. Perfect eyesight and concentration is needed to accomplish such tasks,” said Dimple Jariwala, who loves preparing micro things. According to Jariwala, he was inspired to prepared miniature things after learning about a Japanese artist, who prepared miniature replicas of birds.
Jariwala is preparing miniature artifacts from last four years and has prepared many amazing things. This include 5 mm and 15 mm Ganesha idol made from paper, kites and firkis' measuring 1 mm, 2 mm & 5 mm and Taziya measuring just .75 inches.
To make his effort memorable one, Jariwala has applied for space in Limca Book of Records for smallest desktop calendar. “The current record of smallest desktop calendar is one measuring 2 cm. My calendar is just 1.3 cm and so I have applied for space in the record book. I am hopeful that my effort will be taken into regard,” Jariwala added.
