In a shocking incident, an intern doctor of New Civil Hospital and two others were nabbed for their involvement in a 'strip' party and consuming liquor in a hostel room of Government Medical College in Surat (GMCS) on Sunday afternoon.
Three call girls who were specially called for the bash were also arrested.
The party was busted by hostel warden who was on a routine round during that time.
According to information, Nimesh Varma, the warden heard music from one of the rooms of the boys hostel in G block.
On checking, Varma was shocked to see an intern doctor of NCH, two other youths and three girls consuming liquor and dancing inside the room. The girls were partially clothed and were in compromising positions with the youths. On searching the room, Varma found liquor bottles and pornographic movies too.
The intern doctor later confessed that the other two youths were his friends and they had hired the three girls.
Varma immediately reported the incident to MZ Patel, the dean of the college and demanded strict action against the doctor. Sources say that the intern doctor is a third resident. The incident has come as a shock to everyone including top officials of the hospital. However, till late in the evening, no complaint was lodged in the police station.
Meanwhile Jaynarayan Vyas, state health minister said that the complaint will be lodged from Surat only and not from Gandhinagar.
"The incident has happened in Surat. So the complaint will only be lodged there and not in Gandhinagar. Strict action will be taken against the guilty. The media should not highlight the issue," said Vyas.
