Surat has received 50% rains this season

While the monsoon has set-in heavily in all parts of Gujarat, the regions of Surat and South Gujarat has received 50% of average rainfall. Farmers in these regions are still waiting for good showers. According to met department officials, South Gujarat region can receive heavy rains in next 48 hours.

Surat has received 28 inches of rain, which accounts to 60% of rain compared to last year. In 2009, the city received 40 inches of rain. If the figures of last 10 years are taken into account, this year, the city has received 50% of rainfall. From 2000-2009, Surat has received 1485 inches of rain, with city getting maximum showers between July and August. It is believed that Surat will have a good monsoon this year.
