Surat-based broker arrested for cheating

A city-based yarn broker was arrested by police from Piplod late on Wednesday night. The broker had duped traders of crores of rupees and is wanted in many states for cheating. Interestingly, the arrest was made by police officials of other state and not by
Gujarat Police.

According to information, Mukesh Bhajanka, a resident of Amrutkunj apartment in Bhatar and a yarn broker by profession was arrested by Kothali Police of Jharkhand state from a party plot at Piplod, late on Wednesday night. Bhajanka was enjoying a wedding function at Dumas, when police arrested him. Family members of Bhajanka tried to prevent his
arrest, but were unsuccessful.

Kothali police said that Bhajanka had committed fraud with many traders in Jharkhand, Kerala, Tamilnadu and UP.

"Bhajanka used to purchase yarn and yarn threads worth crores from wholesalers in these states, on credit. He also took large sum of money as advances from traders. He has committed fraud worth crores. At present Bhajanka is wanted at many police stations in different states," Som Durgasinh, official of Kothali police station, said.

Durgasinh said that Surat and Railway police were contacted after it was learnt that Bhajanka is in Surat. He will be taken to Delhi from where he will be shifted to Ranchi. Kothali police has registered a case of fraud and cheating under IPC 420, 406 and 34-A. against Bhajanka.
