Supreme Court to have woman judge after four years

The name of Jharkhand High Court chief justice Gyan Sudha Misra of justice Misra is being forwarded to the law ministry for approval and presidential assent.

After a gap of four years, the Supreme Court is all set to have a woman judge with the collegium clearing the name of Jharkhand High Court chief justice Gyan Sudha Misra for the post.
   
Along with justice Misra, the name of HN Gokhlae, chief justice of the Madras High Court, has also been cleared, sources told PTI.
   
According to the sources, the names of justice Misra and justice Gokhlae are being forwarded to the law ministry for approval and presidential assent.
   
At present, the Supreme Court has a total strength of 28 judges as against a sanctioned strength of 32.
