Kerala-based Peoples Democratic Party leader Abdul Nasser Madani has moved the Supreme Court seeking a stay on his arrest in connection with 2008 Bangalore serial blasts case.
Madani has sought anticipatory bail which was rejected by the Karnataka high court on August 3.

The petition is likely to be listed for mentioning on Tuesday, his advocate Adolf Mathew said.

Meanwhile, the high court of Karnataka is likely to hear on Tuesday a criminal petition to quash the chargesheet filed against Madani.

The petition was filed under the Section 482 of the Criminal Procedure Code.

In the petition, Madani stated that he was falsely implicated in the additional chargesheet. His name was included based solely on a statement made by Tadiyantavide Nazir, also an accused in the case.

The political leader from Kerala contended that no one had made a statement against him before Nazir.

Incidentally, Nazir told the media that he had not made a statement against Madani.

Madani also pointed out that he was arrested in the 1998 Coimbatore blasts without any evidence.  He was later acquitted.
