The annual Board exams of students of class X and XII are starting from Thursday. With more than 13.42 lakh students set to take the exams, the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) has claimed to have arranged everything for their smooth conduct.

In Ahmedabad city alone there are going to be 49 centres wherein 1,01,041 students will be appearing in both class X and XII exams. While, in Ahmedabad rural more than 57,000 students will be
appearing in 41 centres.

Thousands of students and parents rushed to their respective examination centres in order to see their roll numbers and seating arrangement a day before the exams start. The facility was provided by the board authorities so that on exam day it will be easier for students to locate their centres.

"I am excited and nervous both at this moment of time. I just wanted to get a feel of it prior to my exams so I came to see my exam centre. Actually, such things do not matter when you have worked hard throughout the year," said Gaurangi Gupta, a class X student at AG Teacher's School.

The first day of exams for class X students, with language papers scheduled, is expected to be an easy warm-up. On the other hand, class XII, science stream students will be taking on biology while general stream students have to appear for accounts. Many students complained that their centres have been arranged far away from their schools. Some of them from the Nelson High School, Shahpur, complained that their exam centre has been arranged in Nikol, 20 km away.

Sources in the Board also claimed that possibly exam systems may not be the same from next year. It said that not only the exam format but also the syllabus and mode of education are set to have a different look.
