Special Task Force has rescued a senior woman officer of Uttar Pradesh Food and Civil Supplies Corporation five days after she was abducted by her driver and arrested five persons in this connection, a senior officer said today.

55-year-old Rakesh Jain was rescued from a house in Ajgain area of Unnao district in a late night operation and five persons, including her driver Abhay Soni and a woman were arrested for abduction, STF senior superintendent of police Naveen Arora told reporters here.

Arora said Rakesh was abducted by her driver with the help of his wife Sandhya and other accomplices.

Rakesh, posted as manager in Sitapur, went missing on Friday last after which a complaint was lodged by her office in-charge Wasiur Rehman at Kotwali police station.

The SSP said the official was abducted while she was coming back to her Indira Nagar colony residence in Lucknow  on Friday last.

"During electronic surveillance, location of the abductors were traced to some place in Unnao district," Arora said.

He said that in the meantime abductors called Rakesh's family members and started negotiation for ransom.

"Initially they demanded Rs 50 lakh ransom and later settled at Rs 15 lakh. Of this, Rs 2 lakh was transferred to an account in the name of Irfan in a private bank," he said.

The SSP said that when details of the bank account were taken, it was detected that the accused had withdrawn Rs45,000 from various ATMs in Lucknow, Mohanlalganj, Bachrawan, Jagdishpur and Sultanpur.

The STF said that Irfan, Abhay and his wife were arrested yesterday while they were attempting to withdraw Rs 1.4 lakh
from Laxa branch of the bank in Varanasi and a car used in
Rakesh's abduction was recovered from their possession.

"Based on the interrogation, a team of STF raided a house in Ajgain and rescued Rakesh while also arresting Arjun Soni
and Santosh Kumar Soni last night," he said.

Arora said that during detailed interrogation it was revealed that Abhay, who was the driver of the taxi hired by the officer, had planned the abduction a month back.

"He later included his brothers Rajendra, Santosh and nephew Arjun in the plan," he said, adding that they took two houses in Sohramau and Ajgain on rent for the purpose.

The SSP said that on February 19, Abhay and his brothers abducted Rakesh from Bakshi ka Talab area and first took her
to their hideout in Sohramau and then shifted to Ajgain.

"As Rakesh lived all alone, Abhay thought her to be a soft target and felt that a hefty amount could be realised from her family as ransom," he said.

"As I had been travelling with Rakesh from the last two months, I felt that she was rich and it would be easy to overpower her," Abhay said, adding that he planned the abduction after being inspired by a Hindi flick.
