The drivers and conductors association of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) have filed a petition before Gujarat high court seeking to get the wages according to the existing pay scale.

A division bench of acting chief justice Bhaskar Bhattacharya and justice JB Pardiwala issued a notice to the GSRTC.

The petition was filed through advocate Dr Mukul Sinha. It contended that the GSRTC is a state-owned corporation and it cannot give a lower pay scale to its staff compared to other government employees. The existing wages are lower than the prescribed minimum wages.

By fixing the pay scale of the drivers and conductors at Rs4,440- Rs7,440, the GSRTC has effectively changed categorisation and pushed the drivers and conductors to class IV category.
