The government today said it has received specific inputs about possible attacks by Maoists and other terrorists on some political leaders and VVIPs.
"Government receives threat inputs and assessment from central security agencies regarding possible attacks by terrorists including Maoists on some political leaders and VVIPs," minister of state for home affairs M Ramachandran told Lok Sabha in a written reply.
Security arrangements for all such leaders and VVIPs are reviewed and adequately strengthened in the light of specific threat inputs received from central security agencies.
Such inputs are also shared with state governments and Union Territory administrations concerned for providing appropriate security to the leaders or VVIPs, he said.
The government, however, did not disclose names of the VVIPs or political leaders who are on the radar of the Maoists or terrorists and whose security has been overhauled or enhanced.
