Terming the ongoing unrest in the state as a "difficult period", Jammu and Kashmir chief minister Omar Abdullah today said some people were bent on diverting the anger of younger generation in a negative direction for selfish motives.

He asked the people in general and youth in particular to play their role in helping the government to control the present situation.

"Government is taking appropriate measures to take the state out of the difficult period. There is a light at the end of every tunnel, howsoever long it may be," Omar said addressing All India National Integration Camp of NCC here.

The chief minister said exploitation of youth is in no way in anybody's interest and civil society has the responsibility to protect the youth from falling prey in the hands of vested interests.

He said some people were bent upon diverting the anger of younger generation in negative direction for selfish motives. "They have no regard either for the career of youth or for the future of the state".

He said Kashmir has more to offer to the world than the bad news of disturbance some times.
