Sohrabuddin case: ASI Shyam Singh Charan bail plea hearing on Monday

The special CBI court of GK Upadhyay has posted the bail plea matter of Rajasthan STF, ASI Shyam Singh Charan for May 17.
Charan, who has been languishing in the Sabarmati Central Jail for more than three years, had allegedly fired at Sohrabuddin Sheikh during the fake encounter.

Charan, a resident of Udaipur in his bail application said that he had to attend the marriage of his niece in Jodhpur. The CBI judge after hearing the arguments posted it on May 17 for an order.
Charan, who is a key accused in the case, had allegedly fired a shot at Sohrabuddin during the encounter. He is one of the 15 accused arrested in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case.
 Recently, the CBI had arrested Crime Branch DCP Abhay Chudasama in connection with the case. The other arrested include DG Vanzara, Rajkumar Pandiyan and Rajasthan-cadre superintendent of police (SP) Dinesh MN.

Two deputy SPs, ML Parmar and NH Dabhi were also held in this connection. A few days ago the CBI court had rejected the bail plea of ATS official Naresh Chauhan in the same case.  Chauhan is accused of conspiracy and destroying evidences in the case.
As per case details, Chauhan was present at the spot when the body of Kausar Bi was allegedly destroyed by ATS officials in November 2005.
