"My brother is not guilty. A police van had stopped in front of our farmhouse and someone told the police about it," said BJP municipal councillor Surendra Jeerawal defending his brother Rajendra Jirawala.

Rajendra was nabbed by the CBI on Tuesday for his alleged involvement in the conspiracy surrounding the fake encounter of Sohrabuddin and murder of his wife Kausarbi. Surendra said his brother was innocent and that the CBI officials nabbed him after a wrong move.

"They must have got some misleading information that our farmhouse - Arham -was used for illegal activities," Surendra said.
He said there could be only one reason why the CBI and before it the CID(Crime) suspect that the farmhouse has links with the encounter.

"At the time when the case happened, a police jeep was parked on the road leading to the farmhouse. This is the basis on which the investigators claim that Arham was used for abduction of Kausarbi," he said.

He further clarified that at the time when the incident is believed to have happened a marriage function was in progress and the farmhouse was used by his family for the same.

Surendra, however, did not comment on the evidences and testimonies that the CBI is allegedly banking upon and on the basis of which Rajendra was arrested.

"The CBI had some important testimonies against Rajendra which proves that Kausarbi was killed in Arham farmhouse," a source close to the development told DNA.

Meanwhile, Surendra also said that Rajendra was called 14 times since the CBI began its investigation. "Rajendra was called 14 times in connection with the case. He was arrested when he was called for questioning for the 15th time," Surendra said.

Rajendra, the owner of Arham farmhouse, was called by CBI on Monday night and was officially arrested on Tuesday morning and produced in the court in the afternoon.
