The local crime branch, Gandhinagar arrested six members of a gang that specialised in stealing motorcycles. The LCB also recovered 40 vehicles worth Rs16 lakh from the gang's possession.  The arrested members were identified as Jagdish Patel, Ashish Patel, Pintu Prajapati, Alankash Gohil, Dharmesh Singh and Chatri Singh.

The crime branch also arrested seven people including Kalpesh Patel, Jogendra Singh Shekhawat, Jigar Patel and Ashwin Prajapati. The gang apparently sold the stolen vehicles to these seven people.

Of the seven arrested, Patel is from Sabarkantha while Singh is from Rajasthan. Jigar and Ashwin belong to Gandhinagar and Kadi respectively. Piyush Patel, DySP, Gandhinagar, said that the gang stole vehicles from Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Patan and Kadi.

The thieves were nabbed when Gandhinagar LCB, which was patrolling the sector 7 area, intercepted four people on two motorcycles. On interrogation, it was revealed that the motorcycle was stolen.

Further interrogation revealed information about other members of the gang. LCB sources said that the gang's modus operandi was to target vehicles parked near shopping malls or theaters.  With the help of a master key, they stole the vehicles and sold it at a low price.
