Six dead and three injured in an accident in Assam

At least six persons were killed and three others critically injured when the van they were travelling in collided with a truck on National Highway 31 in lower Assam's Bongaigaon district, the police said today.

Two persons died on the spot when the van carrying nine people collided with the truck at Danglaigaon in Manikpur police station at around 11.30 pm yesterday, official sources said. Four others died of their injuries either on the way to or in the hospital, the police added.
 
Three critically injured persons were admitted to a nursing home in Bongaigaon town. The victims were yet to be identified as the accident took place in a remote area, sources said.
