The encounter in which Ishrat Jahan and three others were killed by a team of Ahmedabad DCB in 2004 was reconstructed on Saturday by the special investigation team (SIT) set up by the Gujarat high court to investigate the case. This was the third reconstruction of the encounter done by the SIT since its formation by the high court.

SIT chief additional director general, Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), RR Verma, Gujarat IPS officers Mohan Jha and Satish Verma, and officials of the Central Forensic Science Laboratory (CFSL) and All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), New Delhi, reconstructed the encounter. The entire exercise will continue on Sunday too.

On Saturday, the car allegedly used by the terrorists, and the police vehicle used by the encounter team were also brought to the spot where the incident allegedly took place.

The recreation of the incident began at 9:30 am with both the cars keeping the same distance between each other as was claimed by the DCB after the encounter in 2004. Since many witnesses in the case have turned hostile in the past, the Gujarat high court has directed the SIT to carry out a psychoanalysis test on the witnesses.

The probe team has said that many new revelations regarding the encounter case will made in the near future.
