Singur high-power committee holds meeting

The Singur high-power committee set up by West Bengal government to distribute land to unwilling farmers tonight held a meeting here, official sources said.

The meeting was attended by Commerce and Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee, Law Minister Malay Ghatak, local MLA Rabindranath Bhattacharya, the District Magistrate and other members, the sources said.

After the meeting, Chatterjee told reporters that the state government has passed the Singur Land Rehabilitation and Development Act, 2011, so that land could be returned to the unwilling farmers.

The meeting discussed the ways how to return back the land to the unwilling farmers, he said.
