Shiv Sena seeks Ajit Pawar's resignation on MSCB; stages protests

The opposition Shiv Sena today organised protests at district collectorates in the state to demand action against those responsible for the slide of the Maharashtra State Co-operative Bank (MSCB), whose board of directors has been dissolved.
    
"Deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar of NCP was one of the bank directors. He continues to be in the ministry. He should quit or be removed," Shiv Sena leader Subhash Desai said outside the Collectorate office in suburban Bandra.
    
"The party workers have staged demonstrations at all 35 district collectorates in the state to demand action on the issue," he said.
    
"These leaders who financially mismanaged the bank have harmed the interests of farmers," Desai said.
    
He had requested the state Governor yesterday to convene a special session of the Legislative Assembly on the issue, saying it was necessary since the financial future of the common people and small farmers associated with the MSCB, is in jeopardy following dissolution of the board.
