Sheila Dikshit confident that "Commonwealth Games will be a grand success"

The Delhi chief minister said the city government which was given the task of constructing three stadiums was the first to complete its assigned work.

With only a few months left for the Commonwealth Games, Delhi chief minister Sheila Dikshit today exuded confidence of making the mega sporting event a success.

Dikshit, speaking at a function at the Commonwealth Games secretariat, said with "each passing day we are becoming more
confident" of making the event a "grand success".

She said the city government which was given the task of constructing three stadiums was the first to complete its assigned work.

Dikshit said the infrastructure developed in the capital as part of preparation for the event will become "an inseparable part of the city's legacy."

The chief minister was speaking after inaugurating a branch of the Central Bank of India at the Games secretariat at Jai Singh Road.

Dikshit said the new branch will be able to cater to the banking needs of Games officials, players and visitors.

Union minister of state for finance Namo Narain Meena, organising committee chairman Suresh Kalmadi and CMD of Central Bank S Sreedhar were also present on the occasion.

Kalmadi said all concerned agencies and the organising committee are working in tandem under the guidance of prime minister Manmohan Singh to make the event a success.
