NCP chief Sharad Pawar on Wednesday held discussions with Congress President Sonia Gandhi on Maharashtra at a time when Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan has been told by the party high command to quickly get his act together.

After the meeting with Gandhi, Pawar said that besides the issue of floor coordination in Parliament, he had a "general discussion" on Maharashtra with her.

It has also come at a time when the Congress president is busy taking inputs from leaders on the strategy ahead for Maharashtra where the party is in a coalition with Pawar's NCP since 1999.

A section of Congress disavour Chavan leading the party in the Lok Sabha and Assembly elections in the state scheduled for 2014 for alleged "decision deficit" in his government. Chavan had a meeting with Gandhi last week after the conclusion of the budget session of the state legislature.

The meeting had taken place close on the heels of reports that the Congress high command has told him to quickly get his act together or else it would be forced to look for a replacement.
