Seven more die as heavy rains lash Uttar Pradesh

While five persons drowned in Farukhabad, two died due to wall collapse in Sitapur district due to rains, officials said.

Heavy rains in Uttar Pradesh have claimed seven more lives even as flood situation continued to remain grim at a number of places in the state, officials said here today.

While five persons drowned in Farukhabad, two died due to wall collapse in Sitapur district due to rains, they said.

According to the Central Water Commission report, river Ganga is flowing at danger level in Fafamau and Chatnag in Allahabad, Mirzapur, Varanasi and Ghazipur. The river is flowing almost at danger mark at Gumtia (Kannauj), Ankinghat at Kanpur dehat and Kanpur.

Ramganga is rising in Moradabad and Bareilly, while Yamuna is rising in Etawah and Auraiya, it said, adding that Gomti is rising in Sultanur and Jaunpur. 

River Ghagara was above danger mark at Elgin Bridge in Barabanki, Ayodhya and Turtipar in Ballia.

Similarly, Rapti was flowing above danger mark at Birdghat in Gorkahpur and was rising at Rigauli in Gorakhpur. 

Bani and Lucknow received maximum 74.4 mm rainfall in the state in the past few hours.
