Seven killed in Uttar Pradesh road accident

According to police, four persons died on the spot while the other three succumbed on their way to hospital.

At least seven persons were killed and 11 others injured, three of them seriously, when a jeep collided with a tractor-trolley loaded with bricks in neighbouring Kushinagar district, police said here today.

The accident took place at Titla village in Kotwali area last evening when the driver of the Gorakhpur-bound jeep lost control over the vehicle and hit the tractor-trolley coming from the opposite direction.

According to police, four persons died on the spot while the other three succumbed on their way to hospital.

The injured have been admitted to the BRD Medical College Hospital here. The condition of three of them is stated to be critical.

The driver of jeep is among the dead.

The driver and helper of the tractor-trolley fled the scene after the accident, police said adding that efforts are on to nab them.
