Security has been tightened in Madhya Pradesh's Balaghat district following intelligence inputs that around 60- 80 ultras have sneaked in from Maharashtra and Chhattisgarh.

"Some Naxal movement has been reported in the district and we have intensified night vigil and patrolling in the forested area," Inspector General of Police for Naxal-affected districts, CB Muniraju, told PTI today.

Admitting the police have received information that around 60 - 80 Naxals from the neighbouring states have entered Balaghat, the IG said, "We can not take chances. Our anti-naxal squad - Hawk Force, district police, besides CRPF jawans are on their toes. We are gathering intelligence regarding their movement and objective."

However, he denied that the Naxals were holding a summer training camp for their cadres of central India in Balaghat.

The Naxals have reportedly entered in Lanji and South Baihar area of Balaghat district from Gadchiroli (Maharashatra) and Rajnandgaon and others places of Chhattisgarh.

A bag containing explosive material kept beneath a culvert close to a police post was recovered during the search operation four days back in Balaghat in eastern Madhya Pradesh.

Police suspect that the bag that contained four detonator wires, pieces of glasses, some inflammable stuff and a tiffin box, belonged to the Naxals.
