Security has been tightened throughout Assam in view of the 'Raising Day' of the banned ULFA tomorrow, official sources said.

Special attention was given to the districts of Tinsukia, Sibsagar, Dibrugarh, Jorhat, Lakhimpur, Dhemaji, Dhubri, Goalpara and Nalbari, the sources said.

Additional police pickets were posted in vulnerable areas while entry and exit routes of important towns sealed.

Senior ULFA leaders including Rajiv Das and Rinku Bhuyan, wife of the elusive commander-in-chief Paresh Barua, were reportedly hiding in Lakhimpur district, the sources said.

ULFA was formed in the historic Ranghar of Sibsagar on April 7 in 1979.
