The second vehicle pile-up within a week took place on the Sola over-bridge on Friday morning. No casualties were reported in the accident, which occurred at around 10.20 am. A similar accident at the same location occurred on September 10 and involved the car of a judge of the Gujarat high court.

The pile-up was the result of a car suddenly braking, while heading from the direction of Thaltej crossroads towards the Sola high court road. “One car braked suddenly and seven others followed it,” a police constable present at the location said.

Ajay Gor, whose vehicle was part of the pile-up, said, “My car was the sixth in line. As I braked, my car was hit by two cars from the back.” The police have not filed a formal complaint in connection with the accident. “No casualty was reported from the incident,” a source in the Sola police station said.

In the accident on September 10, six cars, including that of Justice RR Tripathi of the Gujarat high court, piled up on the Sola over-bridge. “Speed breakers are needed at the beginning of the bridge,” a traffic cop present at the scene of the accident said. The speed limit on the bridge is 40 km/hr, but commuters do not adhere to this, he said. “When people do not follow the instructions, the vehicles’ speed should be maintained by the speed breakers,” a source in the police said.

This was the third car pile-up in the last five months. “The first one took place in May. Then too, eight cars were involved,” the source said.
