Screening of Godhra riots footage banned in Ahmedabad

Commissioner of police, Ahmedabad city, Amitabh Pathak passed a circular on Friday ordering satellite news channels not to telecast the footage of Godhra and post Godhra riots on February 22, 2011, the judgement day of the Godhra case.

Pathak mentioned in the circular that adverse reactions to the judgement cannot be ruled out and hence, the footage should not telecast. The ban on the footage is for 24 hours beginning from 12am on February 22.

The channels found not adhering to this will be prosecuted under sec 188 of IPC.
