An errant AMTS driver scripted yet another accident on the city roads and added a teen to the long list of people who have been injured by the AMTS buses.

The AMTS bus ran over Bhavya Palkhiwala, 14, near the IOC petrol pump in Bodakdev on Friday morning. The victim was rushed to Sal Hospital where her condition is reported to be serious.

The incident happened when the victim was on her way to school. Palkhiwala is a class IX student of Prakash High School in Vastrapur.

The bus driver Paresh Patel, a resident of Shahpur has been arrested by the Vastrapur police. According to sources, the bus took a wrong turn and rammed into the victim’s cycle.

A complaint has been filed by the victim’s father, Keyur, who works as a computer operator in a private firm. Police inspector BK Purohit of Vastrapur police station said that the bus driver has been booked for errant driving. He has also been booked under sections of the Motor Vehicle Act.

A source, who has worked closely on many such accident cases, attributed such rising incidents to the lack of experience on the part of many AMC drivers. “Most of the drivers are hired on a contract basis and don’t have the requisite experience required for the job,” said the source.
