British teenager Scarlett Eden Keeling and her family were threatened by a local days before she was found dead at Anjuna shore, her boyfriend Julio Lobo has said.

Deposing before the Goa Children's court earlier this month, Lobo said that a local named 'Shanti' from Anjuna was threatening Scarlett and her family which forced them to move to Arambol.

Scarlett, who was holidaying in Goa with her mother, Fiona Mackeown, her siblings and Fiona's partner, was found dead on Anjuna shore on February 18, 2008.

Lobo said he had told the police that Shanti was threatening Scarlett and her family members.

"To my knowledge Scarlett and her family left the house at Anjuna because of the said reason and shifted to Arambol," Julio said.

He said Shanti bore a grudge against him because he had friendship with Scarlett.

"On account of the said relationship, he (Shanti) had also once damaged my motorcycle," Lobo said.

Police have arrested two locals ?" Samson D'Souza and Placido Carvalho -- for allegedly drugging, raping and leaving Scarlett to die on the beach.

The case was handed over to CBI after Fiona raised doubts over the investigations carried out by State police.

Fiona will arrive in Goa to depose before the Goa Children's court on July 30.
