The government on Monday said the Supreme Court's cancelling 122 telecom licences have actually shown the "path forward" to the sector and the verdict would not have adverse impact on the investment scenario.

"...but now at least we know the way forward. Even global investors are clear as to what the path forward is and I think that's much more important than anything else," Minister of State for Communications and IT Sachin Pilot told reporters on the sidelines of a function.

He said he does not think one or two decisions like this one would hamper investor confidence, as India continues to be the preferred destination because of stable policy regime and political environment with every company wanting to be in India because it's a growing economy.

Pilot also said the subscriber base of companies that are going to be affected (by the apex court verdict) is actually "very minuscule".

"So there is not going to be huge impact on consumers per se. But, yes, the government is willing to look into ways to where we can help any consumer who is aggrieved and need assistance," the minister added.
