There’s some uncertainty on the prospects of having a home for oneself in Greater Noida area as the Supreme Court has decided to reopen the recent high court ruling that had paved the way for construction of houses in the sprawling agricultural belt.

On a lawsuit filed by farmers who are aggrieved by the Allahabad high court’s October ruling, the Supreme Court on Tuesday issued notices to the Uttar Pradesh government and the Greater Noida Authority asking them to explain within three weeks why the HC verdict shouldn’t be stayed.

The high court had quashed the state’s notification acquiring land of three villages Devla, Chakshahberi and Asadullahpur in Gautam Budh Nagar District for development of Greater Noida and Noida Extension areas. But it had also ordered additional compensation for most of other villagers whose land had been acquired by the state.

The farmers, however, rejected it and moved the Supreme Court.
