Satya Saibaba continues on ventilator support. He was admitted to a hospital following lung and chest congestion, continues to be on ventilator support though his vital systems are in a stable condition, doctors attending on him said today.

"Sai Baba, who was admitted in this hospital, continues to be in the same condition as yesterday," a health bulletin issued by the Director of the Sri Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences here said.

"However, his level of consciousness has considerably improved. His vital systems are in stable condition. He still continues to be on assisted ventilation through ventilator and CRRT, which is a slow dialysis process," it said.

Doctors attending on him had yesterday said that "the condition of Baba is critical. The panel of doctors treating him are doing their best to make the system to respond".

85-year-old Satya Saibaba was admitted to the super-speciality hospital at Prashantigram at Puttaparthi near here on March 28 following respiration-related problems.

Prohibitory orders under Section 144 Criminal Procedure Code have been clamped in Puttaparthi town as followers of the Baba allegedly tried to attack the district collector and other officials for not allowing them to have a darshan of the ailing Baba.

Additional police personnel have been sent to the area keeping in view the situation there.

Meanwhile, the Andhra Pradesh government said there was no cause for concern about the Baba's health though his condition continues to remain "critical".

"There is nothing to worry but let us all pray for the speedy recovery of the Baba," state Revenue Minister N Raghuveera Reddy said after a high-level review meeting on the health condition of the Baba at the chief minister’s camp office this afternoon.

Raghuveera said there was nothing to hide about the Baba's health and the Satya Sai Institute of Higher Medical Sciences was releasing two medical bulletins daily.

"The government will extend all required help and co-ordinate with the SSIHMS doctors in the treatment of Baba. Principal Secretary (Health) P V Ramesh is rushing to Puttaparthi to personally co-ordinate the efforts," the Revenue Minister said.

Specialist doctors from different countries were also monitoring the Baba's health and guiding the SSIHMS doctors, he said.

Chief minister N Kiran Kumar Reddy, who reviewed Baba's health, cancelled his proposed visit to Puttaparthi to avoid any inconvenience.

The revenue minister said the situation in Puttaparthi was under control.
