The development came into force in the last week of April and investigation into the 13 new cases in connection with Jadeja will now be investigated by the Sarkhej police station. It is at Sarkhej police station that all the cases are registered.
In the fresh probe initiated by the Sarkhej police against Jadeja, the Ahmedabad (rural) magistrate court has remanded Jadeja to police custody for four days for further investigation in a complaint filed by Balwan Sahsi, a businessman from Rajasthan.
In the case, Sahsi has alleged that Jadeja lured him with a scheme in which he assured triple returns.
Sahsi then invested a sum of Rs98.30 lakhs in the scheme. However, when he saw no hopes of getting his money back, he filed a complaint against Jadeja.
Earlier, the cases filed against Jadeja, were being investigated by the state CID.
The Sarkhej police on Wednesday moved an application before the chief magistrate court, Ahmedabad (rural) for transfer of Jadeja's custody. The police had demanded his custody for 14 days. Falguni Mehta, public prosecutor in the case argued that several other accused including the con man's agent are on the run and police are yet to track them. Hence for further investigation, his custody is necessary.
The court, however, granted his custody for four days.
The police will now soon arrest Jadeja in other cases as well. He was caught in May 2009 and so far over 2,000 complaints of fraud have been filed against him. His wife Neetu Jadeja was also booked in several of the cases.
