Santosh Hegde rules out reconsidering withdrawing resignation

Karnataka anti-corruption crusader Santosh Hegde tonight ruled out reconsidering his decision to quit as Lokayukta.

"Not as of today. I'm unable to think of any way I could change my mind because I have not taken this decision suddenly. I have given it enough thought", he said.

"I have discussed this matter with my family members and it is a matter pertaining to the problems I have in accepting certain things that happened recently", Hegde told NDTV.

Earlier in the day, Karnataka governor HR Bhardwaj advised the state government to persuade Hegde to withdraw his resignation.

Hegde has slammed the BJP government in the state for going back on its promise to give more teeth to the anti-corruption watchdog.
