There were heated exchanges between lawyers of Sanjiv Bhatt and government counsel after the police officer was produced before magistrate BG Doshi's court.  Bhatt's counsel Iqbal Saiyad and Mahesh Baria strongly opposed the appearance of the district government pleader Pravin Trivedi's to represent the police before the court.

Both the lawyers submitted before the court that the government pleader who is assigned duty to represent the government before the magistrate should appear in the case. Trivedi has no right to appear in the case as he not represented the police in routine matters.

However, Trivedi countered submissions of Bhatt lawyers by saying that he is the chief of government lawyers and he has the right to appear in any case related with jurisdiction of Ahmedabad district. The magistrate then allowed Trivedi to argue the case.

Another round of heated arguments began when Saiyad opposed the police ground for seeking remand to check details of Bhatt's bank lockers.

However, Trivedi contended that the police not want to search for cash or ornaments in the lockers but they wanted to search for documents of CD, if any, related to the case. Then Saiyad rose from his chair and objected to such an argument and asked why Trivedi was raising the issue of ornaments (which is not related to the case at all).

Another heated arguments ensued where Saiyad said that the Supreme Court has sent many cases of Gujarat transfers to CBI or outside the state. Trivedi replied, "we will obey the SC order when it delivered". On this, Saiyad said, "you are not obligating court by transferring the probe".
