Salman Khurshid represents India at Burhanuddin Rabbani's funeral

Signifying high level of solidarity with Afghanistan, Law Minister Salman Khurshid represented India at the funeral of assassinated former President Burhanuddin Rabbani in Kabul today.

Khurshid represented the people and Government of India at the offering of Fateha’ (last) prayers for Rabbani, who was assassinated on September 20, an External Affairs Ministry statement said here.

Rabbani was also Chairman of High Peace Council.

During the visit, Khurshid called on Afghan President Hamid Karzai and also met Salahuddin Rabbani, son of late Rabbani, "to convey condolences and express solidarity with the people and Government of Afghanistan in their hour of grief," the statement said.
