A leader of the Rashtriya Swayam Sevaksangh (RSS), on Monday, filed a defamation case against Congress national general secretary Digvijay Singh, before a magisterial court at Godhra in the Panchamahals district.

Parimal Pathak, who is in-charge of four districts of central Gujarat for the RSS, has filed the petition before the court of judicial magistrate first class (JMFC) in Godhra. The complaint was filed over Singh’s statement _ made after the July 13 bomb blasts in Mumbai _ alleging the involvement of RSS and right wing organisations in bomb blasts.

When contacted, Pathak said: “I have filed the complaint against Singh and a national daily and its reporter. The daily published the article containing Singh’s statement.” He further said, “The statement amounts to defamation of RSS and myself as it tarnishes our image in society.”

The court took cognizance by recording statement of Pathak. He is in charge of Anand, Kheda, Panchmahals and Dahod districts for RSS.
