A police inspector accused of corruption was not only suspended but a formal FIR was also filed against him.

Incidentally the FIR was filed in the same police station where he was posted as the senior police inspector.

The inspector's role was revealed after police seized a laptop from a bootlegger. The laptop had information about bribes that the bootlegger had paid the cop. Details about Rs20 lakh in bribe paid to senior police inspector of Dariapur VM Jani was found in the laptop of a Junagadh-based bootlegger Naagdan Gadhvi.

This information finally exposed Jani. Gadhvi's account details also revealed that he had purchased Indian Made Foreign Liquor worth Rs12 crore in the last few months and had earned a profit of Rs21 crore on the same. "His twentieth entry has Jani's name with the details about the Rs20 lakh bribe paid to him," a police source said.

A police team raided Jani's house in Pragatinagar, Naranpura on Saturday evening. But Jani's house was locked and he was found to be absconding along with his family. The police team is currently hunting for him.

Police sources also revealed that, this is the second time that Jani has been suspended. "He was earlier suspended for accepting the bribe from a suspended cop who turned bootlegger," the police source said.  Jani, the senior PI of Dariapur was suspended some days ago on allegations that he had accepted Rs20 lakh as bribe from Gadhvi.

Gadhvi paid the amount to him on November 1, to be let off in a bootlegging case. However, Gadhvi was again arrested by the Junagadh police some days ago and it was then that he revealed about the bribe to Jani and even provided telephonic recording of the same.

The city police commissioner took serious note of the issue and suspended him some days ago. A formal complaint was filed by the deputy commissioner of police, Zone 4, Amit Vishwakarma. The complaint was filed in Dariapur police station on Saturday.
