The RJD today said Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar's reported statement in a section of media that the Centre should provide additional funds for execution of development works with Member of Parliament Local Area Development Scheme (MPLAD) funds or get it done by the central agencies was rigid and may cost development activities in the state.

"Kumar should know Bihar gets Rs280 crore annually under the MPLAD funds by having 56 MPs and whatever development works take place may not be realised if he insists on getting these works done by central agencies in case the Centre fails to come up with additional funds," RJD chief spokesperson and Rajya Sabha MP Ram Kripal Yadav said in a statement here.

Accusing the chief minister of inconsistency on the issue, the RJD leader said that if at all the state government wanted the Centre to get the development works with its funds done by the central agencies, then it should also give up implementation of various central schemes like road, education, health, agriculture, electricity, irrigation, Indira Awas, etc.
