The RJD today accused Bihar chief minister Nitish Kumar of being "an abject failure" on law and order front and demanded that he resign owning moral responsibility for his alleged failure.

Nitish Kumar after taking over the reins of power on November 24, 2005 has promised to establish rule of law within three months from that time, RJD spokesman Shakeel Ahmed Khan told reporters.

"But even on completion of nearly four years of tenure, he has done pretty little," Khan said and alleged that a new trend of crime had emerged in Bihar with schoolchildren being abducted for ransom and killed and trains being torched.

"The passengers feel insecure when the trains they travel enters the border of Bihar in the wake of recent incidents of burning of air-conditioned coaches of some trains, cases of train dacoities and killing of railway employees," he charged.

Alleging that there had been a phenomenal rise in criminal incidents, including kidnapping for ransom and murder, Khan said Kumar had lost moral authority to continue in office.

"Kumar must resign and pave the way for others to bring the law and order situation under control," the RJD leader said.
