After a minor spat over sleeping space, a restaurant worker killed three of his co-workers on the terrace in the early hours of Friday morning at Kadodara village in Surat.

The accused, Pratap Shethi, took the extreme step in a rage. He was nabbed by local residents as he tried to flee from the spot. Surat rural police has arrested Shethi.

Hailing from Orissa, Shethi, 25, worked as a casual labourer in Chamunda restaurant at Kadodara crossroads near Surat. He hit his three co-workers with a stone on the face while they were sleeping. The workers were severely injured.

Shethi was so angry that he pushed one of the workers from the 20-feet-high terrace. He tried to flee but locals nabbed him and informed the police. Local police, along with top officials of Surat rural police, rushed to the spot and arrested Shethi. Palsana police has registered a case and investigations are on.

Two of the workers, Sunil Tigara, 25, and Mukesh Solanki, 25, died on the spot while Nathulal Chaudhary, 30, died while he was being taken to hospital.

Police sources said Shethi who had started working in the restaurant just two days ago had a spat with Sunil over sleeping place on Thursday night.
