Congress today dismissed as "mere speculation" reports that it may join hands with AIADMK in Tamil Nadu ahead of Assembly polls there next year.
"There is no question of dumping any ally. DMK is a trusted ally. We have good relations with that party both at the Central and at the state level," party spokesman Shakeel Ahmed told PTI.
He said "it is mere speculation" as both Congress and DMK have a "very good working relationship and both parties are together for the last two Lok Sabha elections."
AIADMK supremo Jayalalithaa had dropped hints in Chennai yesterday that she was open to joining hands with Congress.
"It is not only a case of some Congressmen becoming impatient
with the DMK. It is the people who are very impatient with the
DMK. People would like a change. Anyway a decision has to be
taken by the Congress leadership", she had said.
